    What is Loom Video Recorder?

    Loom Video Recorder Website

Loom video recorder is a tool that allows you to record and share your screen, yourself, or if you’re feeling up to it both! I use it nearly every day to record videos for my clients, my blog, and my courses.

After you record your video, Loom processes it in the background and depending on the length of your recording, you can have your video ready to view in a matter of seconds or minutes.

Or if you recorded a video on a different platform, you can also upload the video to Loom and easily share videos with anyone you want.

Not only is it great for creating content, but it’s also amazing for recording tutorials between my team or freelancers.

I can’t imagine running my business without it!

My Favorite Ways to use Loom for my Digital Product-Based Businesses

    1. Recording Videos for my Clients

Loom Video Recorder - Client Videos

When you have a digital product-based business, it’s so much easier to record videos for your clients that they then have access to forever. Something that they can easily access, and consume, and where I can provide my strategies and rationale for what I’m recommending to build their digital products or to automate their systems.

My clients love these walkthroughs because they can pause, replay, and comment at certain points in the email, and those who have Loom can record their video responses.

This makes communication so much easier and clearer!

Plus because I spend half my time in Mexico during the year where my internet speed isn’t the best, it helps us keep up with different projects and timelines even if we can’t speak face to face on Zoom.

    2. Creating Videos for My Courses

    Loom Video Recorder - Courses

I easily record all of my content using Loom for tutorials and to share my methods and thoughts on a variety of different topics. Because I can share both my desktop and my face I can create an instant connection with my students!

Another bonus of using Loom is that I can embed my videos in ThriveCart Learn.

Before I switched over to ThriveCart Learn to host my courses, I was using several third-party course platforms for my classes. It was pretty tedious because when I switched from Teachable to Podia, Podia to Membervault, and Membervault to Squarespace, each time I had to re-upload my videos. It took forever and it was a big waste of my time!

Now that I host my videos on Loom, I can easily embed my videos on ThriveCart Learn, and If I ever want to switch hosting platforms again, I can just copy the embed code from Loom and paste it into the new platform.

    3. Creating Video Content for my Blog

One of the favorite ways to connect with my Blog Readers is by creating exclusive content for them using Loom. Here’s a video showing you how I make Click ConvertKit Pop-ups on my Squarespace Website.

After I create this video, if I feel good enough about them, or if they’re popular enough I’ll upload them to Youtube and it’s such a breeze!

This means I’m doing less work and avoiding paying for extra tools like Screencast O'Matic.

    4. Responding to Customer Support Requests,  Questions from Blog Readers, or helping someone in a Facebook Group

One of my favorite things as a service provider is helping other BIPOC entrepreneurs with their tech woes. Loom makes it super easy for me to answer questions or tech support requests for my products.

I just click Record in my Loom Desktop App and I’m helping people in a matter of minutes. The responses I get from my video answers are so heartwarming and it feels good to give back to people in any way I can!

    5. Updating old videos by stitching videos together

Loom Video Recorder - Cut & Stitch Videos

I made a lot of videos about Facebook before and then they went ahead and updated it to “New Facebook” in 2020. This meant a lot of my product videos were out of date. I didn’t have the energy to recreate them and I’ve been putting it off for years now until recently.

Loom now allows you to stitch videos together and I’ve been able to update my old videos that were filled with amazing strategy with updated tutorial clips within the FB platform! This means I don't have to recreate anything!

How I Share my Loom Videos

There are two ways to share Loom videos with anyone in a snap! The first is to share the link directly to the video. The second is to embed the video on your website, within chats, and even in email!

    Sharing the Link

Loom Video Recorder - Share Videos

Loom makes sharing your videos super easy. After you record, your video Loom automatically copies the link for you which means you can go anywhere and share it with anyone.

When I’m responding to blog comments or answering questions on Facebook this is my preferred method to share my videos.

    Embed Videos on your site/course

Loom Video Recorder - Embed Videos on Squarespace Website

I embed my Loom videos in two different places: my Squarespace website and in ThriveCart Learn course platform. Loom makes it easy to create a video and embed it anywhere you want.

Here’s how I to embed a Loom Video in your Squarespace Website

    1. After you record and edit your video, click the purple share button on the top right-hand corner.

    2. Click Embed

    3. Copy the Embed Code

    4. You’ll need to create some sort of embed or code block depending on the platform you’re using

    5. Click Paste into your desired location

    6. Don’t forget to hit save.

Plus you can hide different elements of the Loom video player like the owner, the share link, the video title, and even the entire bar (which is perfect when you’re using Loom videos for your paid content!)

I love this feature because I have two businesses, hiding the owner means I get all the features of Loom that I love without having to pay for two accounts.

Here’s a quick video teaching you how to the Loom hide the toolbar!!

    Hide Entire Tool Bar Code

    ?hideEmbedTopBar=true

    Hide Owner Code

    ?hide_owner=true

    Hide The Share Link Code

    ?hide_share=true

    Video Title Code

    ?hide_title=true

    Sharing the Transcript

    Loom Video Recorder - Transcriptions

Yes, Loom transcribes your videos. Yes, they make it super fast and easy for you to copy a transcript so you can make your content accessible to all people!

    1. Go to your video in Loom, Click Review Transcript from the menu that hovers to the right of your video

    2. Above the transcription menu that appears on the right, click the copy button

    3. Now you have your transcription that you can paste anywhere

I find this really helpful particularly when creating tutorials for people. I start with Loom, export the transcript, and save it to my blog post or save it in a Google Doc so I can share it with people separately.

Loom Chrome Extension vs Desktop App

I’m 100% team Loom Desktop. The desktop version allows you to record in higher quality, which is super important to me and it gives you a few more features that I value, but the chrome extension is pretty critical too. You can download both here.

    Desktop App

With the desktop App I can…

    • Record in HD (if my internet speed is fast enough)

    • Use the Drawing Tool

    • Highlight my mouse clicks with my Business Plan

    • And record my camera bubble across any browser or application I’m using

    Chrome Extension

Don’t get my wrong the Chrome Extension is great too because you can record in a few clicks while in Chrome, but it can’t…

    • Record outside of the chrome browser you're using

    • Can’t be used with other browsers

    • Is limited to recording up to 720p

    Does Loom have an App?

Yes, you can download Loom for your iPhone or Android. I also find the app super helpful to show my clients tips and tricks such as my keyboard shortcuts hack.

Just another way Loom helps me and my clients save time!

With the iPhone app, you can’t share your screen and be in camera mode at the same time and android users can only currently record their screen, but I know the Loom team is working hard to get this feature added.

    Loom Video Recorder Pricing

The best thing about Loom is that you can get started for Free with their base plan, but it does have some limitations. But you’ll definitely want to update the Business plan because it gives you unlimited everything plus some other key features that I think are essential to online biz owners.

Here are the differences between both plans.
